POWER: Norway Pays €23mn To Municipalities That Host Wind

Norwegian regulator NVE paid around NOK 278mn (€23.8mn) to the host municipalities which have wind power plants in 2023, with around 13.9TWh generated in that year. The Production tax is expected to rise this year, it said.

  • The fee was 2 Ore/kWh or about NOK 0.008/kWh for 2023 and will increase to about 2.3 Ore/kWh, NVE added.
  • Income from the production fee is distributed among municipalities based on their share of total wind power production in Norway.
