POWER: Norway's NVE Recommends Expanding Offshore Wind Area, Open New Zone

POWER

Norway’s NVE has recommended increasing offshore wind capacity in select areas, including expanding the Vestavind F zone by 500-750 MW and opening a new project area in Sorvest F (see map for zone location), it said today.

  • The move comes after NVE conducted strategic assessments for three out of 20 potential offshore wind areas, in collaboration with several agencies.
  • However, it advises against developing Vestavind B due to potential conflicts with industries.
  • The strategic impact assessment for the remaining 17 areas will be delivered in June 2025.
