POWER: Polish Offshore Wind Amendment to Add 6GW of New Wind

The planned change in the minimum distance of wind farms from residential buildings to 500m will increase the area for construction by 44% - enabling an additional 6GW of capacity to be built, Poland’s regulatory impact assessment (RIA) showed, cited by ISB news.

  • Additionally, 25% of projects were planned 650-1000m from homes, with 75% placing turbines 450-650m away, with the anticipated change to unfreeze projects after 16 July 2016.
  • The currently accepted minimum statutory distance is 700m
  • The amendments have been sent for a three-week consultation.
