POWER: SSE Renewables Eyes 1.5GW Hydro Grid Connection

SSEN Transmission submitted a planning application to upgrade a substation and provide grid connection for SSE Renewables 1.5GW Coire hydro project in Scotland, it said. 

  • The hydro project will be able to store 30GWh and is expected to be commissioned by 2031.
  • The plant is expected to have four 324MW turbines and will cost at least an estimated £1.5bn to build.
