POWER: Tauron Plans to Continue Operations of Siersza Coal Plant

Tauron is looking at solutions to continue operations at the 307MW Siersza coal-fired plant after the contract under the country’s capacity reserve ends on 31 December 2025, the firm said. 

  • Tauron is looking at different solutions. One possibility could be to continue operations under the capacity market, if the country decides to continue to use coal-fired plants in the reserve.
  • Another option is repowering – to convert the plant to run on biomass or to create a new investment in the area such as an energy storage facility.
