POWER: UK Awards 3.29GW of Solar in AR6 Auction

The UK awarded 3.29GW of solar PV projects in the latest AR6 auction at a strike price of £50.07/MWh, it said. 

  • The strike price increased from £47/MWh in the previous auction.
  • 1.09GW of new solar PV capacity is scheduled to come online in 2026/27 and 2.2GW will come on line in 2027/28, with 2.9GW located in England, 316MW in Scotland and 75MW in Wales.
  • The largest successful solar PV project is the 299MW Longfield Solar Energy Farm in Essex, co-located with battery storage, being developed by EDF Renewables and delivered in 2027/28.
  • The UK has awarded 9.6GW of capacity in its AR6 auction.
