POWER: Ukraine Cuts Output at Nuclear Plant Amid Russian Attacks

Ukraine reduced output at one of its nuclear plants in South Ukraine by one third, after Russian attacks damaged the electricity transmission system, Energoatom said, cited by Reuters. 

  • "No accidents occurred at the South Ukraine nuclear power plant," Energoatom said.
  • Russian missile attacks caused significant fluctuations in the parameters of the grid, it added.
  • Russia has destroyed around 9GW of Ukraine’s power generation capacity since the start of March.
  • Ukraine is operating nine reactors at three nuclear plants in the territory it controls, with six other units at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, outside the controlled territory.
