POWER: Ukraine TSO to Procure Gas Turbines

Ukrainian TSO GTS will conduct a consultation regarding the purchasing of gas turbines for power generation, with the date for suppliers to send commercial offers set for 10 September, it said.

  • The TSO is seeking plants with up to 50MW of capacity but not less than 5MW.
  • The announcement comes after Moldova stated that it was preparing to supply power to Ukraine, with the country potentially being able to host generation units on its territory.
  • Poland is also planning on increasing power exports to Ukraine before the winter by burning more Polish coal without paying for the CO2 emissions, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
  • The government previously reported Ukraine aims to increase its power import capacity to 2.5GW ahead of the upcoming winter.
