POWER: VPI, Quantitas Plan 500MW of German BESS
POWER
Power firm VPI and Quantitas Energy will build 500MW of battery storage over the next 3-5 years in Germany, investing up to €500mn in the development, VPI said, cited by Reuters.
- The units will be able to store 1GWh – about half of Germany’s current operational battery storage capacity.
Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute estimates the country will need around 100GWh of flexible power in the energy system by 2030 amid the development of renewables.
