JGBS: Preliminary August Manufacturing PMI for Japan comes in at 52.8, up from a
final 52.1 in July, hitting a 3-month high in the process. The report is broadly
positive with all sub-components increasing, most at a faster rate with the
exception of output prices.
- Following the release Paul Smith Director at IHS Markit, the compiler of the
survey, said "Expansion continues to be supported by a mix of strengthened
demand from both domestic and external sources: public work projects and
stronger sales to South East Asia were both reported by panellists as areas of
growth in August."
- Final data is due to be published on September 1st, the preliminary reading
includes 80-85% of respondents.
- JGB's ignored the release, futures last down 2 ticks at 150.72, holding at
session lows.
