President Announces Measures Supporting SME’s, BCRP Next Week

  • Peru’s President Dina Boluarte on Tuesday announced measures in favour of small- and medium-sized enterprises and the security required for the development of the sector's activities.
    • In this respect, Boluarte affirmed that ministerial portfolios and public entities will articulate a nearly S/1 billion (US$271 million) package of purchases to the sector in 2024. Moreover, the top official underscored that an improved version of the Reactiva Peru program will be launched in the last quarter of this year.
    • "In November, we will propose a method of economic formalization, including administrative, tax, labor, and pension measures aimed at the above-mentioned business sector," she added. (Andina)
  • Separately, the next BCRP decision is scheduled for September 14, where initial forecasts point to the central bank initiating an easing cycle with a 25bp rate cut to 7.50%.
