President-Elect Lula Approaching Josue Gomes For Development Minister Role

  • President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva plans to appoint economist Aloizio Mercadante, one of the coordinators of his transition government, as head of Brazil’s development bank BNDES, according to two people with knowledge of the matter. (Bloomberg)
  • Additionally, Lula has also approached Josue Gomes, the head of Brazil’s industry federation Fiesp, to check his interest in joining the government as minister of development, industry and trade (BBG)- Gomes is said to be considering the invitation.
