President Pavel To Host Another Round Of Talks On Pension Reforms Next Week

  • Next week President Petr Pavel will host another meeting with the ruling coalition and the opposition to discuss the proposed pension reforms, after the latest round of talks failed to yield any tangible results. The main opposition party ANO continues to oppose raising the retirement age and has pushed for implementing measures to increase the birth rate instead; its leader Andrej Babis recently reiterated that raising the retirement past 65 is a red line.
  • Candidates leading their respective lists in the upcoming European election will face off in a debate hosted by the Charles University in Prague this afternoon (16:30BST/17:30CEST).
