President To Begin Talks w/ Parties Next Mon On Forming Gov't

  • Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is likely to be given the first opportunity to put together a majority coalition, given that his Likud Party won a plurality of seats in the 23 March vote.
  • Likud and its allies currently sit eight seats short of a majority, meaning they will need the support of former finance minister Naftali Bennett's Yamina Party (7 seats) and the socially conservative Islamist Ra'am Party, to cross the 61-seat majority threshold in the Knesset.
