- Today sees the first Presidential debate ahead of the direct elections due on January 13th – 14th. The debate will be streamed on blesk.cz, with candidates Andrej Babiš, Petr Pavel and Danuše Nerudová winning the bulk of the backing in opinion polls.
- PMI data out yesterday came in broadly alongside expectations at 42.6, a modest improvement from November’s 41.6.
- Commerzbank write that even though the CNB will move further towards the dovish camp in the spring, rapid rate cuts nonetheless do not seem to be on the agenda. The view that inflation might soon peak and will then weaken over the course of the year so that a key rate of 7% is sufficient still dominates, but no members appear to be in favour of imminent rate cuts.
