Pressure on Global Gas Prices Eases with Warm Start to Winter in EU

NATURAL GAS

Global gas prices continue to fall with easing supply fears in Europe due to the warm start to the winter.

  • EU efforts to reduce demand and unusually warm weather have eased the short term pressure on TTF and should help with save supplies until later in the winter. Strong LNG supplies from US, Qatar and Africa are covering for the missing Russian pipeline supplies.
  • JKM has seen more support than TTF over the last week with lower prices triggering potential interest from Asia countries to increase gas stocks before the heating season. The force majeure at Malaysia LNG early this month added to the upside pressure on Asian prices.
    • TTF NOV 22 down -0.5% at 98.65€/MWh
    • NBP NOV 22 down -1.7% at 180p/th
    • JKM Nov 22 down -5.2% at 31.29$/mmbtu
    • JKM-TTF Nov 22 down -2.3$/mmbtu at 2.83$/mmbtu
    • US Natgas NOV 22 down -0.7% at 5.17$/mmbtu
