Proposed Charter Offers `New Social Contract': Bachelet

  • Chile’s former President Michelle Bachelet threw her support behind her country’s draft constitution, saying she would like to see it approved in September’s national referendum even as polls show growing rejection of the document.
    • “I hope it will be approved. I think it should be approved,” said Bachelet, who’s now the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. “It’s offering a new social contract.” (bloomberg)
