Prosecutor Prepares Constitutional Accusation Against President

  • National prosecutor Patricia Benavides is preparing a constitutional accusation against President Pedro Castillo to be presented in Congress, La Republica newspaper reported citing sources it did not name.
  • La Republica said that Benavides is investigating Castillo for alleged crimes not covered by the constitution’s article 177, which says the head of state can be accused during his term for alleged treason, obstructing elections or the electoral system and dissolving Congress. (BBG)
