Putin Meets Iraqi PM Ahead of Energy Forum Wednesday

Russia’s Putin and Iraqi PM Mohammed al-Sudani met in Moscow today ahead of the Russian Energy Week forum they are both set to attend tomorrow.

  • The meeting was light on any energy co-operation plans between the nations. Russia is heavily invested in a number of oil projects in Iraq and expected to invest further.
  • "Our countries play an important role in the oil market, and therefore it's important that we continue coordination both on a bilateral basis and in the OPEC+ format," al-Sudani said at today’s meeting.
  • The two leaders are set to discuss further energy related topics over the visit which ends Wednesday.
