- Q: Why aren't you announcing a specific QE? How much might you buy? Also, is
Fed really taking enough risk, you are only lending to those able to repay?
A: Re asset purchases, our policy stance is appropriate now. We are not going to
change it now, waiting to see more from the economy. If the time comes then we
will address the Q about asset purchases, but that is not something we are doing
today. We have talked about it, for now, we like our current policy stance. Re
risk, we are under Congress' laws, section 13(3), allowing us to move quickly
and quite aggressively in areas we haven't been before. These are lending
powers, we do not make grants. I want to be clear on that.
