Qatar to Add 16mtpa of Additional LNG Capacity by 2030

Qatar announced a new 16mtpa LNG project before 2030, lifting the country’s annual production capacity to 142mn tons by 20230, Qatar’s energy minister Saad Al-Kaabi said on Sunday.

  • The expansion follows the discovery of 250tcf of new gas deposits in the North Field, taking overall reserves to around 2,000 trillion, the minister said.
  • "We still think there's a big future for gas for at least 50 years forward and whenever we can technically do more, we'll do more," he said.
