FOREX: Quiet theme spills over into Europe
- A calmer end to the busy week has seen the majors consolidate in narrow range
trade looking for direction.
- SEK continues to outperform and is top of the pile in G10 today. The pullback
off multi-year highs of SEK10.6956 extends to SEK10.2546.
- USD selling ahead of the Tokyo fix was quickly reversed in Asia. Momentum
continued into Europe, USDJPY touched recovery highs of Y109.52 before fading.
- EUR & GBP also encountered pressure on the move. EURUSD briefly made a show
under $1.1900, GBP tested $1.3500, but soon recovered to $1.1925/$1.3530
respectively.
- CAD alongside NOK has benefited on the week after President Trump's
announcement to pull out of the Iran deal triggered a rally in oil. USDCAD
printed C$1.2752, strong demand is reported on approach to C$1.2700.
- Antipodeans once again have been big losers on the week, a welcome respite has
seen AUD & NZD consolidate today, last $0.7552/0.6975.
