Raskin Firm Favourite In Betting For Fed Supervision Role

FED
  • Sarah Bloom Raskin jumped to firm favourite in betting markets for the Fed’s Vice Chair of Supervision role after yesterday’s WSJ story that Biden is eyeing her.
  • A decision could be announced in early Jan (a further delay from “before the holidays”) although the pick could still change.
  • Raskin has leapt from 18c to 74c on PredictIt, with Cordray in distance second (11c) and Bostic third (6c).
  • Raskin and Cordray are seen as bearish for bank stocks relative to the looser legislation under Quarles.
  • Raskin was involved in behind-the-scenes work writing rules implementing the 2010 Dodd-Frank overhaul while serving as a Fed governor from 2010-14.
  • She would also likely bring a greater focus on climate-related financial risks whilst wouldn’t be expected to have a material impact on rates (evidenced by very little reaction in white and red Eurodollars on the headlines).
