RBA Speak Eyed

AUSSIE BONDS

A muted re-open for the space, with YM unchanged and XM -1.0 vs. settlement.

  • The steepening bias from the U.S. Tsy curve applied pressure to Aussie bonds from Monday's Sydney re-open, although the prospect of imminent easing from the RBA has allowed the AU/U.S. 10-Year yield spread to move into marginal negative territory in recent sessions, with Aussie 10s outperforming their U.S. counterpart.
  • Bills sit unchanged to -1 through the reds.
  • Australia's ANZ weekly consumer confidence print and weekly payrolls reading are due today, although those releases will likely be dominated by the minutes from the RBA's most recent monetary policy decision and an address from RBA Assistant Governor Kent (titled "The Stance of Monetary Policy in a World of Numerous Tools"). While the October meeting minutes may be rendered somewhat outdated in the wake of the recent address from RBA Governor Lowe, they will still be worth a quick skim to see if any discussions re: further easing were documented.
