Recapping MNI Interview With ex-BoJ Chief Economist/Executive Director

In case you missed it, an MNI interview with ex-BoJ chief economist/executive director Hideo Hayakawa was published on Wednesday. Part one of the interview saw Hayakawa note that there is a strong chance the yen could come under fresh weakening pressure against the U.S. dollar as market expectations of U.S. interest rates rising at a slower pace and then even starting to fall are unlikely to be maintained. Meanwhile, part two of the interview saw Hayakawa warn that Japan risks falling into recession in the not-too-distant future as the slowing global economy and weak domestic income conditions weigh.
