Recent Moves Faded As Bond Yields Drop

A reversal in fortunes for equity markets after a heavy selloff on Friday. Markets in Japan and Hong Kong lead the way higher, the Nikkei up 2.2% led by Softbank after the group reached a settlement with WeWork. The Hang Seng rose after the announcement that it would expand the number of constituents to 55 from 52, the index is expected to confirm later today an overhaul that would make it easier to include new stocks.

  • Markets in mainland China are also higher, even as PMI's show the pace of growth slows. Bourses in South Korea and Taiwan were closed for local holidays.
  • Futures in Europe and the US have gained, retracing a portion of their move lower on an reversal in risk sentiment with bond yields also dropping.
