Record Russian Fuel Oil Shipments Set for Asia in March

A record volume of Russian fuel oil is set to reach Asia in March to countries including China, India and Singapore, according to preliminary data from Kpler.

  • The current volume of 3.96m tons signalling Asia would be the highest monthly level in data back to 2017.
  • Deliveries heading to China are seen at a four month high of about 1.1m tons, while shipments to Singapore are 1.06m tons and to India are set for a record 1.05m tons.
  • Some shipments from Russia’s Black Sea ports were loaded in December and January.
  • A healthy number of vessels carrying Russian residual fuel oil are still opting to travel through the Bab El-Mandeb according to Vortexa.
