REFINING: Bahrain's Sitra Refinery Requires Heavy Crude Imports

Bahrain's state-owned Bapco Energies plans to import heavier crude due to the expansion of its Sitra refinery to a capacity of 380,000 bpd company execs said at APPEC.

  • Bahrain gets about 220,000 bpd of oil from Saudi Arabia through a pipeline for the refinery and 40,000 bpd from local production.
  • Prior to its upgrade, the refinery had a capacity of 267,000 bpd.
