MNI BRIEF: Fed Needn't Stick to Past QE Taper Model- Williams

(MNI)

New York Fed President John Williams said the Federal Reserve does not need to stick to the script from the last time the central bank reduced a QE program in 2013 and 2014.

"It's a different set of circumstances this time," Williams told reporters during a press briefing. "We have the ability to set our policy as we see appropriate. We don't have to do exactly what we did before."

The Fed is still debating the timing pace and composition of a taper, Williams said.
