MNI BRIEF: Waller Says Fed Should Consider Moving 50BPS Later

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller told CNBC Friday he’ll likely push for the central bank to move in more aggressive 50bp increments in future policy meetings.

“The data certainly suggests we move in that direction,” he said, adding that the war in Ukraine dissuaded him from pushing for a 50bp move at this week’s meeting.

“The data is screaming at us to go 50 but the geopolitical events were telling us to move with caution. Those two factors combined pushed me off.”
