STOCKS: Regional equity markets benefitted from the news of an October round of
Sino-U.S. trade talks in Washington during Asia trade.
- The Hang Seng lagged in the wake of yesterday's strong rally, as participants
awaited HK Chief Exec Lam's media appearance after she confirmed that the highly
contentious extradition bill will be withdrawn.
- The uptick in USD/JPY allowed the Nikkei 225 to outperform, while Chinese
markets drew further support from the prospects of further monetary easing on
the back of the latest State Council statement, released Wednesday.
- Nikkei 225 +2.3%, Hang Seng +0.5%, CSI 300 +2.0%, ASX 200+1.0%.
- S&P 500 futures +30, DJIA futures +288, NASDAQ 100 futures +106.
