Lithuania is set to launch its second 700MW offshore wind tender on 18 November, with TSO Litgrid having outlined updated conditions for its connection to the grid, the energy ministry said today.

  • Developers can choose to operate with or without state support and may compete for various levels of financial assistance.
  • The winner must allocate €5mn for environmental protection in the Baltic region.
  • And after construction, the developer will contribute €1/MWh to local communities, estimated at €3 mn/yr.
  • The State Energy Regulatory Council (VERT) is managing the tender, with VERT soon announcing the min and max support prices.
  • Lithuanian is planning to build 1.4GW of offshore wind in the Baltic Sea – the first winner of the other 700MW tender was Ignitis Renewables and Ocean Winds.
