RENEWABLES: Poland to Raise Maximum Price for Offshore Wind Tender

Poland’s Climate Ministry said it will raise the maximum price in the country’s offshore wind auction to 512.32 zloty/MW (€118.96/MW), from 471.83 zloty/MW (€109.56 /MW) previously suggested according to Bloomberg. 

  • Several market participants and lobby groups have called on the government to raise the maximum price.
  • The previously proposed price is too low due to overly optimistic investment cost assumptions, while costs related to balancing supply and demand, grid bottlenecks and negative electricity prices are underestimated, the Polish Wind Energy Association (PSEW) said in August.
