US DATA
US DATA: REPEAT: There is a low probability that the release of next week's US
employment report could be moved.
- There is the possibility that President Trump could sign an executive order to
give all federal employees an extra day of holiday on July 5th, to give federal
employees a four day weekend.
- There is previous precedent for this and Trump gave federal workers an extra
vacation day on Christmas Eve.
- The BLS will probably have finished most of the details for the employment
report by Wednesday so there is a chance payrolls could be moved forward to
Wednesday July 3rd, but it could also be moved back to Monday July 8th.
- President Trump is currently in Japan for the G20 Summit and any decision is
unlikely while he is there. Although he could sign an Executive Order while
abroad it is more likely he would wait until early next week before making a
decision.
- Again we reiterate that at present this seems a low probability event, but we
would not rule out the possibility of payrolls being moved.
