Repsol, Microsoft Enter 230MW VPPA

POWER

Spanish firm Repsol has entered into a 230MW 12-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with tech firm Microsoft for output from solar and wind farms in Spain, the firm said, cited by Renews.biz.

  • The agreement is for power generated from three PV farms and three wind farms, which are anticipated to all be operational by December 2025.
  • The deal comes after Repsol entered into PPAs with Microsoft in 2021, with around 320MW of renewable capacity under agreement now.
  • Microsoft is aiming to source 100% of its energy supply from renewables by 2025, with Repsol aiming to reach 9-10GW of renewable capacity by 2027.
