Right-Winger Kast Reaches New High In Latest Cadem Poll

CHILE

The latest poll from Cadem ahead of the November presidential election in Chile shows right-wing candidate Jose Antonia Kast holding onto third place with 18% support among decided voters, ahead of the centre-left New Social Pact candidate Yasna Provoste. The top two candidates remain left-wing Apruebo Dignidad leader Gabriel Boric and conservative Chile Vamos nominee Sebastian Sichel.

  • Polling continues to look good for Boric, who retains a sizeable lead over other candidates and looks likely to make it to the second-round election.
  • Conversely, for Sichel the outlook is worse, with his polling having fallen week-on-week since September to the point he only leads Kast by 5%.
  • The prospect of a Boric vs Kast run off would raise the prospect of political and/or economic instability given the two candidates sit at the left and right extremes of the political spectrumm.
