UK PRESS: Risk appetite has picked up slightly on BBC report at 0800ET/1300BST
that "a cheap and widely available drug called dexamethasone can help save the
lives of patients who are seriously ill with coronavirus." According to the
trial, led by a team from Oxford University, it cuts the risk of death by
one-third for patients on ventilators, and by one-fifth for those on oxygen.
- Its properties in fighting COVID were found as part of a larger trial to see
if existing treatments work against coronavirus.
- Importantly, "because it is cheap, it could also be of huge benefit in poor
countries struggling with high numbers of Covid-19 patients."
