DOLLAR: Risk sentiment prevailed overnight with solid gains seen across the
equity space, AUDJPY extended its recovery towards Y78.50, while USDJPY
comfortably holds Y110.00.
- The DXY remained in consolidation mode, tied to a narrow 96.48-60 range. The
index currently rests on the 100-dma (96.55) with bulls looking to clear 97 to
regain control. Bears look for a clean break to the downside, opening the
50%/61.8% retracement levels of 95.74-96.80 at 96.27/15. Below here brings the
96 level back into view, ahead of the 200-dma & Mar 20 low at 95.88/74.
- Gold extended the bullish breakout, touching highs of $1328.00, but has since
pared gains. Momentum indicators continue to generate bullish signals with focus
on a break of channel top resistance at $1329.08, above here opens the Feb 22
high at $1333.19.
- WTI & Brent added modest gains, but soon faded ahead of the European open.
- US Housing Starts/Building Permits are released today at 1230GMT, Richmond Fed
& Conference Board Confidence follows at 1400GMT.
