Romania, Bulgaria Inch Closer to 840MW hydro plant

Romania and Bulgaria’s joint 840MW hydropower project on the Danube River has been approved by the EU, opening the project to funding through the CEF Energy Facility and CINEA, Bulgarian NEK said, cited by SeeNews.

  • The plant has now joined several projects under the EU’s cross-border renewable lists.
  • Final approval and publication of the list in the Official Journal of the EU are pending.
  • Romania said it would restart talks with Bulgaria for the construction of an 840MW hydro pump storage plant on the Danube River in 2022.
