POWER: Romania to Join AIB for GOOs by June 2026

POWER

Romania is set to join the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB) by 1 June 2026, marking a step toward integrating into the European Guarantees of Origin (GOO) system, the government said, cited by Eastern European developer Rezolv Energy.

  • The EU-wide market for GOOs will launch by 1 January 2027, with Romania establishing a local GO market, featuring quarterly auctions, Rezolv said.
  • The revenues earned from these auctions will then be reinvesting into the energy sector.
  • The move is also anticipated to accelerate the PPA market, Rezolv added.
  • The firm has office in Romania and the Czech Republic and entered a 150GWh Romanian wind PPA in September 2024.
