Rosneft Wants to Supply Gas to Power-of-Siberia 2: Kommersant

Rosneft wants to supply natural gas from the Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk regions to the Power-of-Siberia 2 pipeline that will supply China via Mongolia according to Kommersant on Monday.

  • Russia has asked Gazprom to take Rosneft's gas reserves into account when building the pipeline according to Kommersant. They report Rosneft has reserves of 1.5 trillion cubic meters of gas in the fields along the route of the future gas pipeline.
  • The Power-of-Siberia 2 pipeline could carry 50bcm of natural gas per year with Gazprom aiming to start delivering gas via the 2,600-km pipeline by 2030.
  • The Power of Siberia eastern route to China began delivering natural gas to northern China in December 2019 and the entire network is expected to be completed by 2025. The development of the Power of Siberia pipeline is central to Russia’s plans for sending gas towards China as it pivots away from western bound flows this year.
