Ruling Coalition To Table Motion To Investigate NBP Governor

  • Today at noon the ruling coalition will file a motion to launch an investigation into NBP Governor Adam Glapinski, which will determine whether there are grounds for putting him on trial. Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said the government sees no need for talks with the Governor, as "there shouldn't be any negotiations about rules," and reiterated accusations the familiar charges against Glapinski. He added that the process to put the Governor on trial could be completed by the end of this parliamentary term. An unnamed Civic Coalition lawmaker told DGP that the preliminary probe may last at least half a year and more likely a year, with the defendant having multiple options to obstruct the work of the committee.
  • NBP's Joanna Tyrowicz thinks that it cannot be ruled out that inflation will fall below the +2.5% Y/Y target in March, according to her LinkedIn post. However, she also said that services price inflation is close to +7.0% Y/Y, while core inflation is almost two times bigger than the target.
  • Russia's ambassador to Poland ignored a summons to the country's Foreign Ministry over a cruise missile fired at targets in Ukraine which violated Poland's airspace. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna said that if the missile spent another few seconds on the Polish side of the border, military commanders would likely have ordered fighter jet pilots chasing the rocket to shoot it down.
