Rupiah Continues To Tread Water

It is a quiet end to the week in Indonesia, with the rupiah holding a narrow range so far. Spot USD/IDR sits +5 figs at IDR14,248 at typing, with bulls hoping that the pair will pierce the 200-DMA at IDR14,290. Bears need to force a break below trendline support intersecting at IDR14,231, before taking aim at Sep 17 low of IDR14,212.

  • USD/IDR 1-month NDF last +8 figs at IDR14,295. Bulls would be pleased by a move through Sep 20 high/200-DMA at IDR14,354/14,367, while bears look for a dip through Sep 7/Jun 11 lows of IDR14,201/14,198.
  • Participants look ahead to Indonesian CPI & Markit M'fing PMI, due in one weeks' time.
