Rupiah Firms Up, Multiple Indonesian Economic Officials Due To Speak

Spot USD/IDR trades -26 pips at IDR14,000 as we type and bears keep an eye on Jan 22 low of IDR13,993. A break under that level would bring Jan 4 cycle low of IDR13,865. Gains past the 50-DMA/Jan 28 high at IDR14,079/14,099 would prompt bulls to take aim at the 38.2% recovery of the Oct 14 - Jan 4 sell-off/Jan 12 peak at IDR14,204/14,205.

  • A number of prominent speakers including BI Gov Warjiyo, FinMin Indrawati, Econ Affairs Min Hartarto & Health Min Sadikin will appear at the Annual Mandiri Investment Forum (MIF) 2021 today (click here for the full agenda).
  • Separately, Bank Indonesia holds a press briefing on Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate at 10:00am local time.
  • All eyes are on Indonesia's Q4 GDP data, due for release this Friday. In addition, Danareksa consumer confidence will be published this week, albeit there is no fixed time of the release.
