Russia Aims To Raise Eastern Gas Exports to 170bcm By 2030

Russia plans to increase its Far East natural gas exports by fivefold to 170bcm by 2030, compared to pre-war shipments, amid the decline in flows to the European Union, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak wrote in a column.

  • Russia will mostly increase natural gas flows to China. Flows via the Power of Siberia pipeline have steadily increased are expected to rise to 22bcm this year and to 38bcm by 2025.
  • This is despite a shift in Russia’s natural gas export strategy focusing on diversifying exports with increased LNG shipments according to Energy Intelligence.
  • Russia plans to increase its LNG capacity to 100mn t/yr by 2030, from 32.5mn tons in 2022.
