Russia And Ukraine Reach Technical Agreement For Export Of Grain

Comments have hit wires from members of the Turkish delegations at the Istanbul talks to resolve the blockade of Ukrainian grain in Black Sea sea ports.

  • Turkey's Defence Minister says that a decision has been made to form a "coordination center" in Istanbul for export of grain.
  • Turkish defence minister: "Agreed on joint controls for checking grains at harbours."
  • Ragıp Soylu at Middle East Eye: "Russia, Ukraine and Turkey agreed to establish a coordination center in Istanbul for the grain transport. Representatives of all parties would be present, joint controls at the port exit and arrival points, and ensuring navigational safety on the transfer routes."
  • Soylu continues: "Turkish defense minister Akar says another round of Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, UN meeting will take place next week in Turkey to review the further details. Only technical agreement so far."
  • United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres is shortly due to deliver an update to the press outlining the developments of the meeting.
