Russia Defence Min Claims Ukrainian Drones Downed Nr Zaporizhzhia NPP

Russia's state-run RIA reporting that according to the Russian Defence Ministry, 'Ukraine tried to endanger the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant's security', and that Russian forces had 'Shot down nine drones near the NPP'.

• Speaking to The Guardian in October, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had personally pledged to him that Ukrainian forces "will not directly bomb or shell" the NPP during the course of Ukraine's counteroffensive in the region, but that “all other options are on the table” .
• Moving into November, the Ukrainian summer counteroffensive is likely to wind down as the weather turns less accomodative. For Kyiv this comes at an extremely dangerous time. The focus of its Western allies is now divided between Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas war, the United States now has a Speaker of the House of Representatives opposed to further Ukraine aid, and there is increasing war-weariness among Kyiv's fiscal and military backers.
