RUSSIA: Mass Drone Attack Temporarily Shuts Moscow Airports

  • Russia said it downed 144 drones early Tuesday, including in the Moscow region, where the attack caused airports in the capital temporarily to halt flights, Bloomberg report. Moscow’s Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports temporarily suspended operations, Tass reported, but those restrictions were later lifted.
  • Sales of foreign exchange revenues by Russia's largest exporters remained almost flat month-on-month at $11.9bn in August, the central bank reported as per Kommersant. However, demand for forex grew, including from the public. The newspaper add that the dynamics of Russian exports in July-August point to a likely decrease in future forex sales and possible depreciation of the ruble.
  • Fears of a spike in automobile prices after the increase of the vehicle scrapping fee planned for October has spurred demand for new cars, sales of which rose 6.2% week-on-week in the first week of September, Kommersant report.
  • Prime Minister Mishustin continues hist visit to Uzbekistan, where he plans to meet with President Mirziyoyev. There are no economic releases scheduled for today, with focus on the CPI data Wednesday and the CBR rate decision Friday.
