RUSSIA: Officials Considering Reinstating Ban on Gasoline Exports

  • Given the growth of exchange prices for fuel to record highs this year, the Federal Antimonopoly Service has proposed to reinstate the ban on gasoline exports in August, Kommersant’s sources said. The government, which has suspended export restrictions twice, is also leaning toward their reinstatement in August. 
  • The newspaper add that fuel prices are rising on the back of higher seasonal demand, while refineries have so far been unable to significantly increase gasoline production.
  • The Bank of Russia reports May trade balance data at 14:00BST/16:00 local time. Meanwhile, the parliamentary forum of BRICS countries continues for the second day in St. Petersburg.
