Russia Plans to Extend Mandatory Export FX Sales

  • The Russian government supports extending a measure which requires major exporters to sell FX on the domestic market, Bloomberg report citing a Telegram statement. The measures will be proposed for extension until the end of 2024 as they proved to be effective and helped stabilise the situation in the domestic FX market, First Deputy Prime Minister Belousov said.
  • Foreign Minister Lavrov met with his counterparts from Iran, Turkey and Lebanon ahead of the United Nations Security Council meeting on Tuesday due to discuss the Middle East, the Russian foreign ministry said. The bilateral meetings focused on the Gaza Strip, Syria and "the tense situation" in the Red Sea, the ministry said on the Telegram.
  • The Russian Finance Ministry is considering increasing the mineral extraction tax rate for coal miners in order to compensate for budget loss after the government annulled the ruble-rate linked export tax for the industry, Kommersant report citing people familiar with the matter.
  • There are no major data releases on the docket today, with PPI data the highlight of the week tomorrow afternoon.
